I’ve always enjoyed writing; short stories, songs, poems and even sometimes on the odd occasion a cheeky captivating essay. Despite this growing interest I’ve had in writing, I’ve never wanted to share it with others but rather keep it as an outlet for myself. Many of my friends have encouraged me to stop doing this and to share what I write but when persuaded to I’ve always shut down even the idea of allowing my thoughts and ideas to be opened up to the public. And well, I guess that changes today.

Why has it taken me so long?

Well my reason is simple but hard to admit. I was scared. Worried about the opinion of others, how people may perceive me based on what they read or what that will allow people to understand/know about me. But to be very honest, after some thinking, growing and the support of some amazing friends, I’ve realised that I actually don’t give a toss mate. Life is quite honestly way too short to live it based off the opinion of others and if we have one shot at this then shouldn’t we live it the way WE want. As said by this great guy Les Brown (if you don’t know him, look him up!)

“Someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality”

Now I don’t know about you, but one of the things I take from that is that at the end of the day no matter what you do, people will always have an opinion but it’s up to you whether you’re going to allow that to affect you and shape your life. As of now I’ve come to the solid decision that I’m not. So in this one life that I’m living I’m going to do whatever the hell I want to do mate and that starts with this blog. So for people that are being held back by the opinions of others no matter what it be, just do whatever you want (within reason please) because fun fact: most of these people that you’re living your life for probably won’t be at your funeral because the number one determining factor for their attendance is the weather.

Now you really have to stop and ask yourself, should I really be allowing the opinion of someone who potentially won’t come to my funeral because it’s raining, determine what I do? Really and truly, you know the answer.

And so to conclude here’s an official hello and welcome to my blog.
